Director of Planning
Michael Kielbasa has been with Equitable Advisors since 2004 and is one of the original members of The BlackOak Group.
Mike holds the Retirement Planning Specialist title, awarded by Equitable Advisors, based upon the successful receipt of a Certificate in Retirement Planning from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. In addition, Mike is FINRA series 7, series 65, and series 63 registered and licensed for long-term care products.
Mike’s role in The BlackOak Group is twofold. First, he focuses his practice on individual and family wealth management and retirement strategies. Second, he serves as the Director of Planning.
Trust is a value that Mike holds in high regard. He instills this value into his practice by building long-term relationships with his clients and keeping open communication and dialogue. Mike works with individuals and families on laying a solid foundation on which to build upon so that they may reach short and long term financial goals. In the ever-changing financial climate, he takes a proactive approach to help secure his client’s future.
As the Director of Planning for The BlackOak Group, Mike is the operational backbone of the group. His leadership and tenure with the group allow him to provide mentoring and organizational support for the team. He works within the group to keep the culture family-oriented and helps support the advisors and the administrative team.
In his own words, the best part of Mike’s tenure with BlackOak has been “forging relationships and friendships with clients and team members along the way – including sharing in their success and helping them through their tribulations.”
Mike believes in serving the Western New York Community, which is why he continues to support Make-a-Wish Western New York and Mikey’s Way through the group’s annual golf tournaments. Mike also actively supports Mikey’s Way and The FruitBelt Coalition.
Mike resides in Buffalo with his wife Jennifer along his two daughters Emma and Tessa.

In a collaboration between the Wharton School and Equitable Advisors’ affiliate, Equitable Equitable Life Insurance Company (NY, NY), coursework for the certificate was developed exclusively for Equitable Advisors FPs, and the title may be used only by FPs who have completed the required coursework and maintain the title through ongoing continuing education requirements.
