Eric McKenrick holds three of the most coveted designations in the financial planning industry. First, Eric holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional designation1, awarded to those professionals who must master nearly 100 integrated financial planning topics, including investment planning, tax planning, retirement planning, estate planning, risk management, insurance, and financial management. In addition to completing a comprehensive curriculum approved by the CFP® Board, professionals are required to complete continuing education and approved ethics courses to ensure their competency. Eric also holds the professional designation of a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®)2 and is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®)3; both designations provide additional education in the fields of behavior finance, neuro-economics, advanced business planning, and additional insurance law coursework.

Eric is also a Retirement Planning Specialist, which is a title awarded by Equitable Advisors, and is based upon receipt of a Certificate in Retirement Planning from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. At U Penn, Eric was fortunate enough to be able to speak with professors and scholars who have directly impacted our countries policies on Social Security, Medicare, and various healthcare efforts.

Eric joined Equitable Advisors after graduating from the University at Buffalo and being honorably discharged from the US Marine Corps in 2009, where he served overseas as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Operation Enduring Freedom was part of the military operations that took place after the tragic events of 9/11 and is defined by the U.S. combatting terrorism and piracy in the Horn of Africa.

The focus of Eric’s practice is helping families in Western New York prepare for retirement by building customized financial plans. The BlackOak Group and Equitable Advisors, pride themselves on exemplary client service with a focus on identifying your concerns and aligning those concerns with the education and products needed to make sound financial decisions.

Eric has been integral to the growth of the Equitable Advisors branch in Williamsville, NY by building his own team and perpetuating the values instilled in him through his success in both civilian and military endeavors.

As education is paramount when managing finances, Eric is also pursuing a Masters in Financial Services.
