Bryan Plunkett grew up in Amherst, NY with his parents and brother.  He attended Amherst High School and graduated with honors in 2003.  Bryan attended SUNY Fredonia and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2007. 

Upon completing his degree at Fredonia, Bryan was accepted to Western Michigan University to pursue the Master of Music in Trumpet Performance.  He was awarded a Western Michigan University School of Music Scholarship, as well as a Graduate Teaching Assistantship.  During his years of classical music training, Bryan had the privilege to perform with various outstanding ensembles such as the SUNY Fredonia Wind Ensemble, SUNY Fredonia Symphony Orchestra, the Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra, the West Michigan Symphony Orchestra (Muskegon, MI) and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.  Bryan is currently the 2^nd trumpet player with the Western New York Chamber Orchestra based in Fredonia.  

After graduating in 2009, Bryan returned to western New York to begin teaching.  After substitute teaching in various school districts throughout western and central New York, Bryan enlisted in the 42^nd Infantry Division Band “Rainbow” of the New York Army National Guard.  After two years of reserve service, Bryan transferred to active duty and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas as a member of the 1^st Cavalry Division Band, United States Army.  During his military service, Bryan was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, NCO Professional Development Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and attending the Basic Leader Course.  In Texas, Bryan was a member of the 1^st Cavalry Division Band’s training section where he maintained the unit training schedule, scheduled training events for the unit and ensured the accuracy of unit training records.  In addition, Bryan indoctrinated new trumpet players into the unit in the proper procedures regarding military ceremony and funerals.  All told, Bryan had the honor of performing “Taps” at roughly 500 military funerals between New York and Texas.  After leaving the Army, Bryan worked at a collection agency in Amherst where he collected on defaulted federal student loans on behalf of the United States Department of Education. 

Some of Bryan’s interests are music (of course!), history, reading, and his family.  Bryan has a son named Matthew.  He is an avid Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan, as well as a Syracuse Orange fan.
